How to properly deep clean a bathroom (including cleaning recipes)

Gather Supplies

Before you begin, make sure you have the following cleaning materials:

  • Baking Soda
  • Castile Soap
  • White Vinegar
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Dish Soap
  • Lemon Juice
  • Essential Oils (optional, for fragrance)
  • Microfiber Cloths
  • Scrub Brushes
  • Toothbrush (for hard-to-reach areas)
  • Spray Bottles
  • Rubber Gloves

1. Sink and Countertop

Cleaning the Sink

  1. Remove Items: Clear the sink and countertop of any personal items.
  2. Apply Baking Soda: Sprinkle baking soda generously over the sink basin.
  3. Scrub: Add a few drops of Castile soap to a damp scrub brush or sponge, then scrub the sink, focusing on the faucet and drain.
  4. Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Cleaning the Countertop

  1. Wipe Down: Use a damp microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris.
  2. Spray and Wipe: Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the countertop and wipe down with the cloth.

2. Toilet

Cleaning the Toilet Bowl

  1. Baking Soda and Vinegar: Sprinkle baking soda around the inside of the toilet bowl. Pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the bowl.
  2. Scrub: Use a toilet brush to scrub the bowl, focusing on the rim and edges.
  3. Let Sit: Let the solution sit for 10-15 minutes to disinfect.
  4. Flush: Flush to rinse.

Cleaning the Exterior

  1. Spray and Wipe: Mix 1 cup of water with 1 cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the exterior and wipe with a microfiber cloth.
  2. Detail Clean: Use a toothbrush dipped in the vinegar solution to clean around hinges and other hard-to-reach spots.
