What You Will Need:
- A clean spray bottle
- Water
- White vinegar
- Essential oils (Peppermint or tea tree oil work best)
Steps to Follow:
- Fill the spray bottle halfway with water: Start by filling your spray bottle with water, leaving some room at the top for the other ingredients.
- Add an equal amount of white vinegar: Pour in the same amount of white vinegar as the water. Vinegar is a natural insect repellent, and its strong odor helps keep spiders away.
- Add 10-15 drops of essential oil: Choose either peppermint oil or tea tree oil, both of which have compounds that spiders find offensive. Peppermint oil is particularly effective due to its strong, minty scent.
- Shake the bottle well: After adding the water, vinegar, and essential oil, shake the bottle to ensure all ingredients are mixed thoroughly.
- Spray in key areas: Apply the mixture around areas where you’ve seen spiders, or where they might enter your home, such as window frames, doorways, baseboards, and corners. You can also spray the mixture in areas like attics or basements where spiders are known to frequent.
